The EcoShower designed by Peter Brewin of the Royal College of Art (RCA) works on similar principles to a Dyson vacuum cleaner, using filters and hydro cyclones, installed behind the shower unit, to clean the recycled water and reheat it to the desired temperature thereby reducing waste.
The shower also also been designed to be more user friendly and includes a pause button which allows water flow to be stopped until it hits the right temperature - designed to please anyone who has unwittingly stepped into a freezing cold shower. Other features include an eco-feedback water meter which can help to educate the user about the amount of water they are using per shower.
The shower won the British Standards Institution 2005 Environmental Design Award.
